Stakeholders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kano State have called on the National Working Committee, NWC of the party to, as a matter of urgency, dissolve the executives of the party who are loyal to a former governor of the state, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
In a communique issued at the end of a meeting held Tuesday in Kano and signed jointly by Akilu Indabawa, Yusuf Dambatta and Abdullahi Ungogo, the party called on the NWC to appoint a caretaker committee to handle its affairs through election period.

Led by a former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and former Nigerian Ambassador to China, Aminu Wali, the PDP stakeholders also raised alarm over what they described as desperate attempt by Mr Kwankwaso to control the party while promoting another party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
They alleged that Mr Kwankwaso is planning to sabotage PDP in Kano in 2023 by plotting to cost the party participation in the election in order to pave way for the success of his party.
The party leaders also argued that by maintaining the PDP’s leadership under Kwankwaso, a former Senator representing Kano Central, the NWC would leave millions of the party supporters in limbo.

“Time is of essence, since selling of nomination forms to respective candidates for various positions closes on 1st April, 2022. The meeting expresses fears that if urgent action is not taken, PDP bill end up without candidates, thereby clearing field for NNPP and other political parties.
“NWC should immediately and unequivocally dissolve the Kano State PDP executives and a caretaker committee be appointed to handle the affairs of the party through electioneering period,” the stakeholders said.
They also maintained that the meeting had addressed the issue of unity, cohesion, solidarity and inclusiveness, expressing commitment to ensuring that all stakeholders of the party would be carried along in the new leadership.
Other stakeholders who attended the meeting are former chief of staff to Mr Kwankwaso, Yunusa Dangwani; former commissioners of Land, Yusuf Dambatta; former commissioner for Information, Umar-Farouk Jibrin and; a former member of the House of Representatives, Damburam Nuhu.

Other party leaders include Mukhtar Janguza, Aminu Dala, Auwalu Maibiskit, Zainab Audu-Bako, among others.
