Lamido’s son, 2 others win PDP senatorial tickets in Jigawa

The son of former Jigawa State Governor, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ticket for the Jigawa South West (Central) Senatorial District.

Announcing the result after the conclusion of the primaries, the returning officer for the senatorial district, Nasiru Barau, declared Mr Lamido as the flag bearer of the party with outstanding votes of 4,088.

Similarly, Ubali Shitu, a serving senator representing Jigawa North East in the National Assembly has also clinched the ticket beating three other aspirants in the state.

Recall that Mr Shitu was among the 14 pro-Saraki Senators who recently defected to the PDP.

Declaring the result, the returning officer in the zone, Umar Hamza, declared Mr Shitu winner of the primaries with the total votes of 821 out of 829 accredited delegates and eight invalids.

Meanwhile, another returning officer, Abdulaziz Usman, declared a former commissioner of finance, Nasiru Umar Roni, winner for the Jigawa North West senatorial district with total votes of 1,121 while his contender, Jamilu Muhammad, got a single vote.
