The Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has approved the downward review of processing fees for the recertification programme by the Kaduna State Geographic Information Service, KADGIS.
The government said the exercise is part of the land reform initiatives introduced by the current administration to sanitise the system and ease the burden for title holders.
A public service announcement signed by the management of KADGIS, reads: “The Kaduna State Geographic Information Service, KADGIS, would like to inform the general public that in accordance with the Land Use Act 1978, Governor Uba Sani has approved the a reduction in the processing fee for the recertification programme.
“The fees is now set N20,0000 for those without assignment and N40,000 for those with assignment.”
The governor also extended the registration period for the recertification programme to May 2025.
Mr Sani also approved the removal of associated penalties to accommodate title holders who have not registered yet.
“Furthermore, in line with the power vested on him by the Land Use Act, 2004, His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, has graciously approved the downward review of the penalty fees for areas declared for regularisation in Kaduna State.
“This downward review is aimed at easing the burden of occupiers of such areas for the regularisation programme to get titles for their property faster and at an affordable fee,” statement added.
According to the reviewed penalty fees in areas declared for regularisation, are as follows:
“For Systematic Regularisation: Areas such as NAFDAC Land Narayi, Ungwan Mua’azu Industrial Layout, Police Land at Hayin Dogo Rigachikun, Sterling Land Mando, Kinkinau Tudun Wada, Stello, Sabon Tasha Kaduna, Chanchandi Land at Matagyi Sabon Tasha, NITEL Land at Television, and Oil Village at Mahuta, the current penalty fees are now N80,000 from the old fee of N500,000.
“For organic regularisation areas; which cover areas with existing settlements that are expanding, like Sabon-Gida Millennium City, Gidan-Daji Millennium City, Danhonu, Danbushiya, Keke A, Babban-Saura, Ungwan Maigero, Janruwa, Old Kamazou, and KamazouG.R.A, Karji/Babban-Saura are now N50,000 from the old N500,000 penalty fee.
“Additionally, for special regularisation areas such as NITR Ungwan Rimi and Gbagyi Villa, the fee has been revised to N150,000 from the old fee of N500,000 – while for special regularisation area 2 is now N100,000 from N500,000.”
The state government assured that it remained committed to restoring order to its land processing systems and urged all those concerned to take advantage of the opportunity to register and regularise all existing documents.
