The widow of late Aminu Kano, Shatu Aminu Kano, has passed away on Monday in Kano State at the age of 80.
According to Alhaji Aminu, one of the deceased’s grandchildren, the octogenarian died in the wee hours of Monday after an intermittent ailment.
He said that though her children were all dead, late Aisha, popularly known as Shatu, had left behind 15 grandchildren.
Hundreds of sympathisers thronged the resident of one Aminu Kabara, a grandchild to the deceased at Sheka quarters in the Kano metropolis to bid last farewell to the wife of the veteran politician of first and second republics.
She was finally laid to rest at Dandolo cemetery, Dala Local Government area in the Kano city.
Late Aminu Kano was the leader of the defunct Northern Element Progressives Union, NEPU and Peoples Redemption Party, PRP in first and second republic respectively.
He fought hard for the emancipation of the ‘talakawas’ (masses) and strive for the development of northern region.
