The Department of State Security Services, SSS, has reacted to insinuations that it’s immediate past Director-General, Lawal Daura, was still in control of the activities of the agency.
Mr Daura was removed out of office following his alleged political involvement in the National Assembly siege by the operatives of the SSS.
A lot of people are of the opinion that the disgraced SSS D-G is still wields enormous influence in the agency, especially as people see the present D-G as being loyal to Mr Daura for allegedly having worked towards his appointment.

However, a statement by the SSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, warned that “any person or group that further engages him or his representatives/associates does so at their own peril.”
“The Service will not tolerate acts of impersonation designed to undermine it and will decisively deal with person(s), no matter how highly placed, that may engage in such behaviour.
“The public should, therefore, note this and avoid circumstances under which unsuspecting persons may be deceived.
“On the other hand, the DSS continues to recommit itself to the core values of professionalism, selflessness, vigilance and the rule of law that it has always been identified with,” the statement added.
