French President Emmanuel Macron plans to head to Berlin on Monday for talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on their planned reforms to the eurozone.
Mr Macron announced the planned trip on Friday after an EU summit in Brussels.
He said a joint roadmap would be developed throughout April and May before further talks at another EU summit in June.
The joint German-French concept for strengthening the currency zone should already have been in place, but this has not yet been achieved.
Mr Macron said the aim of the reforms would be for the eurozone countries to grow closer together economically and avoid further crises.
