Gov Ishaku extends Mambila crisis probe panel timeline by two months

Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku has extended the the timeline of the Justice Nuhu Adi Commission investigating the violent crisis in Mambilla Plateau with two more months.

The investigative committee was initially mandated to finish its assignment within three weeks, but will have two additional months to finnalise their work.

Mr Ishaku, who announced the extension on Sunday in Jalingo, urged members of the general public, especially interested parties, to submit their written memorandum on or before July 24.

He said “15 copies of every memorandum should be submitted to the Secretary of the Commission,” adding that hearing would commence on Aug. 3, at Gembu, headquarters of Sardauna Local Government.

Mr Ishaku thanked the warring parties for heeding the call to embrace dialogue toward solving disagreements, and expressed happiness that peace had been restored.

He advised the people to eschew violence and promote peace, which he described as the fundamental ingredient for sustainable development.

The governor said that the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, had since distributed relief materials to the affected communities, adding that more relief materials were being taken to the affected areas.
