An FCT High Court on Friday sent the widow of Bilyamin Bello, the slain nephew of a former chairman of PDP, Halliru Bello, to prison for remand.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Friday arraigned Maryam for allegedly killing of her husband, Bilyamin Bello before an FCT High Court in Abuja.
Upon her arraignment, Maryam burst into tears as she cuddled her seven-month-old baby and Holy Qur’an.
She pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of homicide.
The defense counsel, Hussein Musa, asked the court to let the defendant be in the police custody arguing that she is still a nursing mother and would be improper to be remanded in prison custody.
The presiding judge, Yusuf Halilu, however ruled that the suspect be remanded in Suleja prison.
He adjourned the case to December 7 for further hearing.
