Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has expressed his appreciation to the youth of the state for the “unflinching support” given to his administration.
A statement signed by the governor’s SA on media and communication, Zailani Bappa, said Mr Matawalle made the statement Tuesday when a group of youths paid him a solidarity visit upon his return from an official trip to Abuja.
According to him, the vibrancy of the youth in the state serves as a strong pillar of his administration.
He, therefore, promised to continue exploring ways through which the youth in the state could be empowered.
“For a long time, you have been neglected. Many of you need to go to school while others need jobs to do.
“We shall continue to find ways through which you will be gainfully empowered so you can meaningfully contribute to the development of our dear state,” the governor said while addressing the youths.
Mr Matawalle, however, called on them to shun the preaching of violence and disobedience to constituted authority as drummed by some unpatriotic politicians in the state.
“Some disgruntled politicians, for their selfish reasons, are not happy with our success in bringing peace to our towns and villages.
“They will come to you with incisive propaganda. Shun them as their motive is inimical to our collective wellbeing”, Governor Matawalle warned.
While describing the development as worrisome, Mr Matawalle lamented that the same politicians who ruled the state and plunged it into unprecedented violence are now claiming to be saints
According to him, these politicians are now working hard behind the scene to breach the peace.
“They woefully failed during their time and are hell-bent to whip up every unimaginable sentiments to set the people against us with the sole aim of portraying us as failures like them,” the governor noted.
“Whatever you do, always remember that you are the future of our prosperity and wellbeing.
“Do not allow anyone to use you in compromising your future and that of your dear state,” the governor cautioned.
