Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has received about 100,000 All Progressives Congress, APC, defectors from Zurmi and Shinkafi local government areas of the state.
A statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on media and publicity, Zailani Bappa, said the defectors joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to give unflinching support to the Matawalle administration.
The defectors said their decision to join the PDP was aimed at ensuring the success of the governor’s laudable programmes for sustenance of peace and progress of the state.

In their remarks, the Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area, Auwalu Bawa and former Chairman of Shinkafi Local Government, Usman Ajiya both expressed their people’s complete loyalty to the administration of Matawalle.
Similarly, the State Chairman of the PDP, Ibrahim Mallaha also said the decision of the decampees to join the PDP in the state was a wise one, pointing out that there was no alternative to supporting Matawalle and his administration in the state.
Governor Matawalle, while expressing his delight for the decampees’ decision to join him, promised to treat every citizen of the state as one.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment in the sustenance of peace and tranquility in the state, stressing that he would continue to work towards a more prosperous Zamfara state.
