Max Air, a privately owned airline, has apologized to the entire passengers on its Boeing 737 aircraft over an incident that happened in Kano on Tuesday.
DAILY NIGERIAN had reported how many air passengers, including the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, escaped death by whiskers as Kano-Abuja Max Air aircraft developed engine failure, 10 minutes after take-off from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the Max Airplane with the number VM1645 which was slated for take-off 1.30pm had about a 30minutes delay.
The aircraft later took off around 2:00pm with passengers filled to the brim.
It was gathered that 10 minutes after the take-off, the aircraft began to swerve around the air until it made a detour for an emergency landing.
Sources said the incident was allegedly caused by an engine failure, just as others attributed the incident to a bird strike.
Speaking with News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Max Air Executive Director, Harish Manwani, lauded the airline’s experts for their promptness to effect standard practice in aviation to tackle the incident.
He said: “The incident that happened yesterday was on take-off of our Boeing 737 aircraft from Kano carrying among the distinguished passengers on board were the Emir of Kano, his entourage and top officials of Max Air Management.
“As the aircraft took off, one of the engines experienced a bird strike, which called for the Captain to carefully bring back the aircraft to Kano airport.
“We humbly apologize to the passengers for the inconvenience caused and assure that safety is our number one concern always“ Mr Harish said.
According to him, the passengers were asked to disembark after the aircraft safely arrived Kano airport.
He said the Air Max engineers assessed the damage of the blades on the engine and got them replaced as per procedure.
“The aircraft was released back to service with the authority’s supervision, and the aircraft departed from Kano to Abuja,“ he added.
