A Nigerian senator, once caught sleeping during the Senate plenary, has signed the bail bond of Andrew Yakubu, a former NNPC boss arrested after $9.7million was found in his house.

Although EFCC reportedly sought a remand order to keep Mr Yakubu for two weeks pending the conclusion of investigation, sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that the senator, Danjuma Laah, had filled the bail documents for the release of Mr Yakubu.

Mr Laah was elected on the platform of PDP.

Apart from Mr Laah, sources said there is also “a retired army general” among those trooping to EFCC office seeking the release of the former NNPC helmsman.
