The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has again failed to appear before the Senate today.
The IGP was expected to brief the Senate on the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Dino Melaye, the Senator representing Kogi West.
The resolution was reached during last Thursday’s plenary after the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawal, briefed the senators on the arrest of Mr Melaye and killings across the country.
However, a statement by the Nigerian police force said that the IG was on official visit to Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state to assess the security of the area.
The statement read: “IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni and GOC 1 Division Kaduna, Gen. Mohammed Mohammed, visit Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State to assess security needs of the people.”
