The FCT Police Command on Friday said police have found Amira Sufyan, a lady who declared herself abducted alongside 16 other victims.
On Tuesday, Miss Sufyan raised the alarm in a series of tweets, claiming that gunmen who disguised as police officers had abducted her from her house.
While tweeting her location, Miss Sufyan had claimed that herself and 16 other victims were abducted from different parts of Abuja, and driven off in a van.
Responding to the alarm, the FCT police command mobilized their men who later found her.
In a statement on Friday, the FCT police spokesperson, Oduniyi Omotayo, said the young lady is in police custody, receiving medical attention as demanded by global best practices.
He, however, said that investigation was ongoing, assuring that findings would be communicated to the public later.
Mr Omotayo said: “Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command wishes to categorically debunk the viral news of the alleged kidnapping of one Safiyanu Amira and seventeen (17) others who were reportedly abducted at gunpoint by Armed men in Police uniform on Tuesday 14th June 2022 at about 1:00 pm and to state that Safiyanu Amira is currently safe in Police custody.
“While she is currently in the hospital receiving medical attention as demanded by global best practices, the investigation continues and findings will be communicated subsequently.”
