A member of the House of Representatives representing Katsina Federal Constituency, Sani Danlami, has denied sponsoring the circumcision of 130 children as his constituency project.
Quoting a report in a vernacular newspaper, Rariya, DAILY NIGERIAN on Friday reported that Mr Danlami sponsored the circumcision programme involving 130 children.
Speaking to DAILY NIGERIAN on Sunday, the lawmaker clarified that he was away in Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj when the circumcision programme took place.
He said his close political associate sponsored the programme without his knowledge and gave him the credit in order to please him and shore up his popularity.
“As a matter of fact, one of my political associates sponsored the medical operation and attributed it to me without even my knowledge,” he explained.
“Although I didn’t sponsor the circumcision programme but I am really grateful to the sponsor.”
