The Nasarawa chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is ruining into serious hitches with major stakeholders in the state showing lacklustre attitude in the affairs of the party towards 2019 general elections.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Ahmed Wadada were conspicuously absent at the inauguration of the Engr Abdullahi Sule gubernatorial campaign organisation held in the state’s Government House in Lafia.
Recall that during the infamous APC primaries in the state, Mr Sule defeated 9 other aspirants to clinch the party’s ticket as the 2019 gubernatorial candidate.
However, in the aftermath of the primaries, which split the duo into warring parts, the party moved to stem the hitherto rising enmity between the two political bigwigs in the state.
As a result, Senator Adamu, Governor Umaru Al-makura and eight other defeated gubernatorial aspirants were appointed members, board of trustees of Mr Sule’s campaign organisation, while Mr Wadada was appointed chairman of the campaign council.
However, DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that while Mr Adamu is in the faraway United Kingdom, Mr Wadada is said to be Dubai for undisclosed reasons.
Our correspondent observed that others absent at the inauguration are two of the defeated gubernatorial aspirants: Mohammed Maikaya and James Ngbazo, who are believed to have wide followership at the grassroots level.
Although Mr Adamu and others absent sent in apologies, sources revealed that the senator probably chose to be away to protest the meagre role he had been assigned to play in the campaign process.
According to the sources, most party stalwarts in the state are not happy with the formation of campaign structure.
“Deputy Governor Silas Agara and Senator Adamu deserve to be appointed chairmen of committee’s rather than ordinary members of the campaign organisation.
“Just imagine, even the state chairman of the party who is supposed to be in charge of the campaigns is an ordinary member of the team,” one of the party stalwarts lamented.
He noted that there were indications that some APC aspirant for other offices might set up separate campaign structures at their own levels.
