Nasarawa: Gov. Sule sworn-in, promises to clear salary, pension backlogs within 100 days in office

The newly sworn-in governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has unveiled 12 programmes to be executed within his hundred days in office.

Speaking after taking an oath of office, Mr Sule said that his administration would commence payment of salary and pension arrears within his hundred days in office.

Mr Sule also promised to set up a state economic management and investment advisory council to review and advice his administration.

Other areas to be accomplished within hundred days, according to the governor, are the completion of the Lafia Cargo Airport, Kwandare, the commencement of the construction of rural roads in each of the three Senatorial Zones.

He said: ”It is conventional to talk about recording some achievements within the first 100 days in office by new administrations. We shall not be an exception to this.

“We have, therefore, identified some high impact projects to achieve this objective in the interim before medium and long-term arrangements take effect.”

More projects are the commencement of rural electrification in, at least, three villages in the state, the commencement of the construction of 2Km solar powered street light projects in each of the 13 local government areas of the state.

Others are the commencement of the construction of Technology Innovation Hubs in Lafia, Akwanga, Keffi and Karu and, provision of state-wide free medical outreach.”

He also promised to commence the promotion of youth programmes in partnership with Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and also the supply of fertilizer, as well as construction of classrooms at the local government areas.

“Screening and training of youth for small scale agricultural and trading enterprises in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“Supply of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs to farmers for the current farming season and Construction of some classroom blocks in the Local Governments.

“Execute an agreement with, at least, another major investor in agricultural development in the State,” the governor said.
