The governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has stated the state government is set to  reconstruct the Tudun Amba bridge linking Lafia and Doma local government areas, in order check incessant flooding.Mr Sule stated this on Thursday, in Lafia while assessing the damage caused by the flood in the area due to heavy rainfalls.

According to the governor, the bridge is too narrow to accommodate the volume of water, hence it is taken over by water.

He said that the flood was caused by indiscriminate refuse being dumped by residents of Lafia, which eventually blocked the narrow bridge.

“As part of measures to address the challenge, government will expand the bridge, dredge the river and build barriers along the canals leading to the river to stop wastes from flowing in,”  he said.
