The David Ombugadu Campaign Organisation in Nasarawa State has extended its gratitude to the judiciary and the people of the state, following a victory at the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Recall that the tribunal had nullified the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the duly elected governor of the state in the March 28 election.

The tribunal ordered the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return issued to Mr Sule and give same to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, David Ombugadu, as the duly elected governor of the state.

In a split judgement of 2:1 by the three-man Tribunal chaired by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, the majority judgement affirmed Mr Ombugadu as the winner of the State’s governorship election.

Reacting to the verdict through a statement on Monday , the director of Media and Publicity of Mr Ombugadu’s campaign organization, Mike Omeri, said the PDP remains committed to the principles of good governance, inclusivity, and service to the people of Nasarawa State.

Mr Omeri said the ruling marked an unprecedented milestone in their pursuit of electoral justice and fairness.

He said the ruling of the Tribunal highlighted the tenacity of the resolve of a broad spectrum of the people of Nasarawa State to seek and secure justice.

“What the people of Nasarawa State have demonstrated will further strengthen our democracy and the importance of upholding the principles of justice and accountability in our electoral process.

“We hail the tribunal for its diligent and impartial consideration of the evidence presented, leading to this historic and landmark decision,” stated Mr Omeri.

Mr Omeri said Ombugadu’s unwavering commitment to serving the people of Nasarawa State has been vindicated.

He noted that throughout the pursuit to recover his stolen mandate, the PDP candidate has remained steadfast in his belief that justice would prevail.

“Today, we celebrate not only a legal victory but also a triumph for the democratic aspirations of the people of Nasarawa State.

“We wish to express our profound appreciation to the teeming supporters and well-wishers of Dr. David Ombugadu who stood by him with unwavering loyalty and determination. Your faith in the democratic process and your commitment to our cause have been the driving force behind this victory,” Mr Omeri said.

He also lauded the tireless efforts of the PDP legal team, whose dedication and expertise were instrumental in presenting their case convincingly before the Tribunal.

He said their meticulous preparation and passionate advocacy have been pivotal in achieving this outcome.

“As we move forward, we remain committed to the principles of good governance, inclusivity, and service to the people of Nasarawa State.

“While we recognize the right of Alhaji Abdullahi Sule to appeal this judgment, we urge him to perish the thought as the electoral mandate handed over to Dr. Ombugadu by the people of Nasarawa State is beyond reproach.

“We extend a hand of friendship to all our political opponents to join us and recover Nasarawa State from the brink in order to discover a pathway for peace, security, and sustainable development of the state,” Mr Omeri said.

He also lauded the judiciary, the people of Nasarawa State, and all those who have stood with them in their pursuit of justice.

“Together, we aim to build a brighter future for their beloved state and posterity,” he added.
