Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, says it will commence final outdoor exercise for cadets of its regular and short service in Niger and Plateau states.
The cadets are from the 66 Regular Course Army, 67 Regular Course Navy and Air Force and Short Service Course 45 Army.
The Academy Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Abdullahi made the disclosure in Kaduna on Friday.
Mr Abdullahi, a major, said the exercise was designed to test cadets leadership qualities, endurance, map reading, command and control capabilities among other military competences.
According to Mr Abdullahi, the exercise will commence from July 13 to August 1, 2019 at Hepang and Shere Hills in Plateau and a tactical exercise in Kontagora, Niger State.
“Consequently, communities living around Heipang and Shere Hills in Plateau are not to panic on seeing mass movement of military personnel, vehicles and equipment in the general area from July 14 to 20.
“Similarly, residents of Bodori, Dogon Fadama, Maraban Masuga in Kontagora, Niger state will observe same movement from July 20 to August 1.
Mr Abdullahi advised the communities to continue with their normal routines and report any breach of security to the nearest authority.
He further explained that during the three weeks exercise, NDA would embark on various Civil-Military Cooperation activities including commissioning of boreholes, distribution of free learning materials to students in selected public schools, and free medical outreach in Kontagora.
“More so, battle inoculation which includes live firing of small arms and artillery weapons will also be conducted within the general exercise area in Kontagora.
“We wish to appeal for cooperation from local communities affected by the exercise directly and Nigerians as a whole as we train future military leaders for Nigeria,” he said.
