Niger State Revenue Service, NGSIRS, in partnership with Aspire Alliance for Niger State Youths, AANY, has flagged off distribution of essential learning materials as part of its advocacy to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.
The initiative was launched at the Dr. Umaru Farouq Bahago primary school Minna on Monday.
Speaking at the event, NGSIRS commissioner on stamp duty, Aisha Muhammad, described the project as timely.
She said: “We believe in the power of education to break poverty cycles and unlock potential.”
Mrs Muhammad emphasised that education remains the most powerful weapon to transform society.
“When we equip our children with knowledge and resources, we are not just building students—we are raising future leaders, innovators, and nation-builders,” she stated.
Earlier in his remarks, founder of AANY, Aliyu Haruna-Sani, said the statewide campaign is aimed at motivating underprivileged children to embrace education while equipping them with the tools to succeed.
Mr Sani hailed the collaboration with NGSIRS and the Niger State government, urging beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity.
“These materials are more than just gifts—they are tools for greatness. Use them wisely,” he charged the pupils.
To ensure transparency and measure impact, Mr Sani announced that a special Monitoring & Evaluation team would be set up to gather feedback from teachers, parents, and students.
“The team will assess improvements in school attendance and academic performance, shaping future interventions,” he said.
He revealed that the first phase of the outreach will extend to other public primary schools in Minna, Bida, Suleja, and Kontagora, with plans for statewide coverage.
“With millions of Nigerian children out of school, initiatives like this offer a lifeline—proving that strategic partnerships between government agencies and NGOs can ignite real change.
“As these pupils march back to class with brand-new supplies, Niger State takes a decisive step toward securing a brighter future,” Mr Sani added.
Some of the items distributed include school bags, exercise books, writing materials, packs of chalk and sporting tools .
