Nigerian Army, 81 Division in Lagos on Thursday updated and inaugurated the Electronic Nigerian Army Pay System, e-NAPS, for payment of salaries of its officers and soldiers.

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, inaugurated the system at the 81 Division Officers Mess, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mr Buratai was represented by General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Enobong Udoh.

He said e-NAPS would greatly enhance salary administration in the Nigerian Army by providing adequate timing and accurate information for payment.

Mr Buratai said “Nigerian Army Finance Corps has continued to strive to maintain a robust biometric database for the e-NAPS and to safeguard its integrity.

“Safeguarding the integrity of the database calls for an update from time to time to ensure that the database is up to date, accurate and secure.”

He added that the army was preparing to migrate into Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS, noting that the e-NAPS update could not have come at a better time than now.

“The e-NAPS update will, therefore, facilitate uploading of accurate and reliable data to IPPIS platform,” he said.

He advised personnel to take the exercise seriously, adding that it would give direct impact on their emolument.

He cautioned that “failure to update may result in nonpayment of salaries as such personnel would be deemed nonexistent and the name deleted from the database.”
