AVM Kingsley Lar, the Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, NAFRC, Oshodi, on Friday said that the centre would soon extend its training programmes to members of the other security agencies.
Mr Lar said this at the passing out of 343 military trainees and retirees held at the NAFRC, Oshodi.
He said that the inclusion of other security agencies and civilians would provide a meaningful forum for exchange of ideas, as well as improve civil-military interaction.
He added that para-military agencies as well as selected civilian staff of some Federal Government ministries, departments and agencies would also be considered.
The Commandant said that this was in line with his vision to transform the NAFRC to a world-class centre of excellence for training in vocational skills.
Mr Lar also commended the staff of the NAFRC for their dedication which he said had ensured that the institution got to an enviable height.
He added that the Defence Headquarters had approved that from July, the next set of trainees would include members of the other security agencies.
“Your efforts are greatly appreciated and acknowledged. I am proud to say that your insistence on maintaining set standards has greatly enhanced the reputation of this institution.
“This is in line with my vision to transform the NAFRC to a world class centre of excellence for training in vocational skills not only for disengaging military personnel but for those still in service,” Mr Lar said.
The commandant commended the graduants/retirees for their continuous support to various security agencies,especially, in community intelligence gathering.
Mr Lar said that this was necessary due to the rising level of insecurity across the country.
“You are no doubt aware of the rising level of insecurity across the various parts of the country. I urge you to continue to support the various security agencies, particularly, in the area of community intelligence gathering.
“You were adequately trained in this aspect during your course. Thus, I charge you to bring to bear the knowledge you had acquired here, ” he said.
Mr Lar also charged them to remain dedicated, disciplined and maintain the highest level of integrity in their civil life.
“As you graduate today, you have transferred from active military duty to the legion of veterans who continue to make positive contributions to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Remember, you remain ambassadors of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“I, therefore, charge you to remain dedicated, disciplined and maintain the highest level of integrity with which you have served in the past 35 years,” he said.
He said that the Defence Headquarters had also approved the automatic migration of trainees personal account details to the Military Pensions Board.
According to him, there will be no separate exercise to document their biometrics.
Mr Lar also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Defence Staff and the various service chiefs for their unwavering support to the NAFRC.
Some of the graduants/retirees thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief of Defence Staff and everyone who made the course successful.
They told the News Agency of Nigeria that it was an honour serving the country, saying that they would continue to contribute their quota toward nation building.
NAN reports that certificates were awarded to outstanding graduants/retirees, while some capital projects that included the 1×9 rooms transit accommodation were inaugurated.
