The general overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Fellowship Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru has distributed over 1,000 food packages and cash gifts to poor Muslims, orphans, IDPs and street beggars for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

While sharing the food packages on Saturday, Mr Buru said the essence of the gesture was to help the poor Muslims celebrate Sallah with joy and happiness like other rich Muslims and also deepen peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance between Muslims and Christians.

The church also shared money to children as ‘Barka da Sallah’ to make the season more joyful for them.

The pastor said the church cooked for over 600 to 700 people every year, but this time it was multiplied due to the increase in the figures of people at the various distribution places.

Mr Buru recalled that the Church had distributed over 1,000 packages of food and drinks and new clothes to IDPs and destitutes in 2021.

He said this is the 11th year the church is distributing foodstuff to the poor Muslims during Sallah festivities and the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The cleric stressed that Islam and Christianity have many things in common as contained in the Bible and Qur’an, adding, “we are all brothers and sisters and must support each other to live in peace and harmony.”

Mr Buru appealed to wealthy Muslims and Christians nationwide to support the poor, including widows and orphans to ease their pains.

Tukur Zubairu, one of the beneficiaries, said no one remembers them on Sallah day but the pastor.

He commended Mr Buru for his relentless efforts to bring succour to the less-privileged persons.
