Nigerian Customs nabs 2 with fake anti-malaria drugs in Kano

The Kano customs’ strike force Zone B has arrested two suspected persons in connection to the smuggling of over 35 cartons of fake anti-malaria drugs, in Kano.

The Deputy Comptroller General of custom O.A Olorukuba who is in charge of the operation while displaying the seized drugs said the drugs are neither registered nor having NAFDAC certification.

According to him, the drugs pose a great risk to the health of people if consumed.

The drugs are among the several other items confiscated by the strike force within three weeks of its operation in the state.

He listed other items to include, 268 bales of second-hand clothes, 53 kegs of 25liter of vegetable oil, 205 bags of foreign rice as well as 95 cartons of spaghetti.

The total duty paid value of the seized items was put at N24.3million.

Mr Olorukuba warned smugglers to stay clear of the state and get another means of livelihood assuring that the customs alongside sister agencies are on ground to enforce compliance to bring smuggling to the barest minimum level. ‎
