Nigerian Press Council moves to curb hate speeches

The Nigerian Press Council is organising a capacity building programme on “Hate Communication in Nigeria: Identifying its Roots and Remedies for Journalists.”

The council said in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday that the workshop would be its contribution to sensitising Nigerian journalists and the general public on countering hate speeches.

Word and Image Ltd., a firm of communication experts, will facilitate the programme.

The workshop is scheduled for Friday. February 23, 2018 at Barcelona Hotels, Blantyre Street, Wuse 2.

The council said that the objective of the workshop was to sensitive participants on the need to counter hate communication, which it said, had characterised the Nigerian political landscape in all channels of communications.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, is expected to deliver a keynote address at the workshop.
