Nigerian troops repel Boko Haram’s attempts to invade Damaturu

Nigerian troops of 233 Battalion on Tuesday evening repelled Boko Haram’s attempts to invade Damaturu, Yobe state capital.

Sources said the terrorists invaded Maisandari, located on the suburb of Damaturu along the Kano-Maiduguri highway, and advanced in drove toward the state capital.

It was gathered that attack started at about 6pm and lasted for hours.

The source also said the insurgents were earlier sighted near Fori, a village about 20km away from Damaturu moving towards the capital.

But the Nigerian Army said in a tweet: “Gallant Troops of 233 Battalion today 9 April 2019 at about 6pm successfully repelled elements of BHTs who attempted to infiltrate Damaturu the Yobe State Capital through kukareta Road.”
