The late Abubakar Rimi, a former governor of Kano State, will be conferred with a posthumous honorary degree of science by Kano University of Science and Technology.
Under late Rimi’s tenure from 1979 to 1983, Kano State recorded massive development in education, healthcare, agriculture, among others. He died on April 4, 2010 after a robbery attack.
Vice chancellor of the university, Shehu Musa, revealed this to journalists at the pre-convocation press conference in his office on Wednesday.
Mr Musa, a professor, said the university would hold its fourth convocation ceremony for the combined 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 sessions on Saturday, February 4.
The VC also revealed that the university would confer on the emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II and an academic, Mustapha Ibrahim, honorary degrees.
He said the award was an acknowledgement to their contributions to the development of education in the state.
