Activists and a chieftain of the Labour Party, Aisha Yesufu, has said Nigerians don’t feel the absence of President Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima, who are currently out of the country.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that while Mr Tinubu has been out of the country since October 3 observing his annual leave, Mr Shettima left Nigeria on Wednesday for a two-day official engagement in Sweden.

Their trips, however, generated debate and concern over a possible vacuum since there was no official transfer of power.

But the presidency allays the fears of Nigerians, saying there was no vacuum in governance.

In a statement issued by the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said governance would continue to go on smoothly despite the physical absence of the president and his vice.

“It is important to note that the President and Vice President are fully engaged with the nation’s affairs, even while they are away. There is no leadership vacuum in the country.

“President Tinubu left the country on Oct. 3 and is on a two-week working vacation. During this time, he has been busy answering phones and issuing directives on matters of state,” Mr Onanuga said.

However, reacting to the statement via her X handle, Mrs Yesufu, who has refused to accept the legitimacy of the Tinubu administration, described the duo as “seat warmers”.

“There cannot be a vacuum in something that was never there.Nobody feels the absence of seat warmers,” Mrs Yesufu added.
