NITDA establishes E-library Centre in ATBUTH, Bauchi

The Chief Medical Director, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, Dr Alkali Mohammed, says the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has  established an Information Technology Centre with E-library facility in the hospital.

Mr Mohammed disclosed this while interacting with newsmen, as part of the 10th anniversary of the hospital, in Bauchi on Thursday.

He said that the e-library was connected to over 300 libraries across the world.

According to him,  the e-library would improve on research, teaching and training of staff and students of the college.

“One of our mandate is research and NITDA has established an e-library for us which is connected to over 300 libraries across the world,” he said.

He said that as an achievement, the  ATBUTH College of Nursing  had also secured an accreditation to admit about 300 students annually against the former 100.

“The hospital has established a College of Nursing Sciences to admit students through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the National Diploma (ND) and the Higher National Diploma (HND).

“The college has two streams that will now admit 300 students annually after meeting the accreditation requirement,” he said.

Listing some of the achievements recorded by the hospital  from inception, Mohammed said that the facility had constructed and equipped a modular theater and Laparoscopy equipments.

He also listed other achievements such as execution of projects that included road networks, expansion of the pediatric ward, the construction of new Trauma Centre, Radiology and Laboratory complex, and Psychiatric complex among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the ATBUTH was  acquired by the Federal Government and was officially handed over by the Bauchi  Government on January 28, 2010 by the then Gov. Isa Yuguda.
