Northern youths condemn killings, destruction of Hausa community in Oyo

The Coalition of Concerned Northern Youth Agitating for Peaceful Coexistence, CCNYAPC, has condemned the killing of Hausa people in Oyo State.

DAILY NIGERIAN reported that least 10 people had been killed, 70 sustained gunshots injuries and over 30 Northerners declared missing in a deadly attack on Sasa Market traders in Akinyele Local Government Area the state.

It was also gathered that over 6,000 Northerners, mostly Hausas, are currently taking refuge at the residence of Sarkin Sasa, Haruna Maiyasin.

Addressing newsmen in Kano at the weekend, the group’s coordinator, Zainab Baba, described the act as sheer hooliganism.

According to her, the act was completely unacceptable, stressing that Northern youths will no longer tolerate this “nonsensical attitude” towards our colleagues living in the other region.

She said: “The unbridled terrors on helpless Hausa communities living in the southern region resulted in an outcry against those bad elements misrepresenting the good essence of Nigerian citizens.”

The group warned that if the acts continue, law abiding citizens would be put in danger.

Mrs Baba, therefore, called on the Federal Government, security agencies and stakeholders to take quick actions on stopping the nuisance.

The coalition added that failure to take action would make the group to mobilize its people against any possible onslaught that may be spearheaded against any Hausa community.

It noted that no development would be possible without security, adding that failure to take measures may plunge the country into anarchy.

The attack, they said, exposed the weakness of the government in tackling and maintaining the constitutional declaration of “Right to live within your choices” as well as lack of concern for the lives of its citizens.

The group said: “Undoubtedly, we describe the action as ungodly and regret situation and call for an immediate action and while in this act, we (CCNY) call for immediate arrest and prosecution of defaulters within fourteen days, and failure to meet our demands, the Coalition of Northern

“Youth (CCNY) will not hesitate to mobilise thousands of youths to take serious measures of self-defense even if it’s going to cost our lives.

“Failure for the government to fish out without fail, all those behind the carnage and immediately bring them to book, the northerners have no choice than to declare such a total reprisals, their cruelty against a peace loving, innocent Hausa people will be scale to weigh in return for them.

“Despite having structure from ward to the national level, we’ll make sure we follow each and every political appointee to his polling unit and make them taste the rainbow bridge of their failure in saving our lives from the incessant killings.

“The CCNY sincerely condones with the families of the bereaved and all the victims of the unfortunate incident.”
