Nurses numbering over ten have abandoned their duty post at the Family Support Programme, (FSP), Medical Centre, Enugu for greener pastures.
Director, Nursing Services, at the Centre, Nneka Anioke, told correspondents who visited the centre, on Wednesday, as part of the activities marking their 2015 Press Week, that formerly it had eighteen staff but now was left with five to cater for the children with and disabilities, adding that it was the love they had for the children and their passion for the job that had made them to stay behind.
Anioke, who disclosed that the inmates were twenty-one in number, said good-spirited individuals and corporate organisations, as well as the Enugu State Government, had been catering for the upkeep of the centre since inception ten years ago.
She however called on the state government to provide it with more staff to meet onerous task of caring for the children.
The journalists, who were led on the visit to the centre by the Vice-Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Enugu State, Mr. Regis Anukwuoji of the Businessday newspaper, presented the management of the centre with various items such as cartons of Indomie noddles, tissue papers and packets of pampers.
