The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has advised the new Vice-Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Suleiman Mohammed, to design a new curriculum that would promote quality education in the institution.
The Chairman of NYCN in Keffi, Mohammed Idris, gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Mr Idris said the call became necessary in view of the strategic position of the institution in the North Central geopolitical zone of the country.
He emphasised the need for quality education which, he said, would attract students and academics from far and near.
He commended Governor Tanko Al-Makura for appointing the new vice-chancellor to steer the affairs of the institution.
“In view of the antecedents of the vice-chancellor, NYCN is convinced that he will introduce new policies that will sanitise the institution and enhance its quality of education.’’
The youth leader appealed to the vice-chancellor to review school fees regime of the university to enable indigent students to access quality education.
Idris also advised the vice-chancellor to eliminate all forms of multiple charges in the university’s departments and faculties.
He congratulated the vice-chancellor for his appointment and wished him a successful tenure of office.
Governor Al-Makura had confirmed Mr Mohammed as the new vice-chancellor of the university on April 12.
