The audio, apparently recorded and leaked by the female student, has generated public fury over how university lecturers trade marks for sex.
But in a statement from the Office of the Vice Chancellor and made available to DAILY NIGERIAN, the university said it would investigate the matter.
“The attention of the university management has been to a leaked audio, now trending on the social media, between Professor Akindele and a female student of the university.
“The audio clearly states that the lecturer was asking the female for sex in order to give her a good grade which depicts that the lecturer is harassing the female student sexually.
“Since the matter got to our office, the management has begun the process of identifying the characters involved in the current breach of its regulations, the code of conduct for the university and anti sexual harassment policy, in full compliance with the full laws, rules and regulations and procedures of the university.

“The University considers sexual harassment has a serious offence as against the code of conduct of the university community and as against the Anti Sexual harassment policy of the University. It is morally reprehensible and the university would never condone that from any staff or students.
“I once again I wish to reiteriate that anyone found culpable of this
serious offence of sexual harassment wont go unpunished,” the statement added.
