2023: Okai Austin clinches PDP ticket for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency

Usman Okai-Austin has emerged as Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for 2023 Dekina/Bassa federal constituency election, beating his closet revival, former deputy speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr Omebije to emerge the overall winner.

Announcing the results at the party Secretariat in Dekina on Monday, the PDP’s Electoral committee gave the breakdown of the results as follows:

Numbers of accredited delegates 68; Allocated Votes; Usman Okai Austin 28 votes

Honourable Omebije 16 votes; Honourable Simon Atadoga 11 votes; Honourable Positive Ihabe 5 votes while candidates put together scored 8 votes. Samuel Agagwu 2 votes, Ojochide Mary Odoma 0, and Anthony Gab isah 0.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the official announcement, Mr Austin said: “It is not about his victory but a victory for the people’s of Dekina / Bassa”.

Mr Austin who acknowledged his co-contestants as great leaders of the party also called on them to put their differences aside and work towards the success of the party come 2023 election.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of the party faithful described Mr Austin’s victory as the victory for the masses, stressing that his personality represents love, fairness, equity, acceptance and peoples’ wish.
