Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor

A leader of the faction of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor, has said that the people who accused him and his cabinet of corruption, and so want the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC), to wade in were out to tarnish the image of the church.

He said in response to a petition to the EFCC on allegation of embezzlement and fraudulent conversion of monies belonging to the church made against him and his allies – including Rev. Vincent Alaje, Rev. Femi Adegoke, Mr. Dickson Ukpai, Mr. Michael Ugbor, Elder Mike Okoro and Tony Ewelike.

He told the Daily Times that it was premature to make any comment on the issue, but advised those behind the petition to desist from dragging the church to the anti-graft agency.

“My response is to laugh because it is funny; it is still premature to make any comment because the petition is strange to me. The people who gave you the petition are out to tarnish the image of the church, but I want to warn them to be careful in handling matters that has to do with the church,” he said.
