The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, on Thursday hosted the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, to a send-off dinner in Abuja.
The event was graced by all the former ministers of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, including former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.
Others in attendance included Babagana Kingibe; former SGF, Ahmed Yayale; Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo, who was the Royal Father of the Day; Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, and many heads of MDAs, service chiefs and other captains of industries were also at the event.
In his goodwill message, the serving SGF, George Akume, who was the Chief Host, commended Mr Mustapha for his contributions to the success of the last administrations.
Mr Akume during his remarks described “Boss as a unique administrator that has done commendably well and made the nation proud.”
According to him, Mr Mustapha’s service, especially as the Chairman of the presidential committee on COVID-19 and Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committees on two occasions, were a few of his many memorable achievements.
Mr Osibanjo, while extolling the good virtues of the ex-SGF, described him as a thorough administrator and a good man.
On his part, the Lamido of Adamawa who was represented by the Dujuma of Adamawa, Musa Halilu, said, ‘’Boss Mustapha has not disappointed Adamawa State and the emirate.
Mr Kingibe, in his remarks, said, ‘’Boss’ accomplishments as the SGF were highly commendable.”
While recalling how Adamawa State missed such development opportunity over 20 years ago when he lost the governorship race, Mr Kingibe said the state is proud of Mr Mustapha.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr Mustapha said he was humbled and elated for the dinner reception and the heart-warming-goodwill messages from statesmen and women.
Mr Mustapha thanked for President Muhammadu Buhari for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government as the SGF.
While speaking on his regrets while serving as the SGF, Mr Mustapha lament that throughout his over five years in office there was never a time they had a get-tether to douse the office tension with his permanent secretaries.
According to him, both him and his permanent secretaries had never gone on an annual leave, nor left the office beyond seven days’ period.
The former SGF said: “I could not create time to socialise with my permanent secretaries, directors and staff due to tight office works and schedule.
“I also could not have the opportunity to extend relationship beyond office nor to family members of my permanent secretaries due to the demanding responsibilities of the office.”
Mr Mustapha, therefore, commended members of staff of the OSGF for their resilience, enjoining them to extend similar gesture to his successor.
