The vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, has held a town hall meeting with people of oil producing communities of Ondo state in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, urging stakeholders in the region to key into the new vision of government to develop the Niger Delta.
While addressing the stakeholders, he said, “constant dialogue between the people and government is required for lasting progress, peace and development to be achieved in the Niger delta region”.
He further urged traditional rulers, opinion and religious leaders and key players to partner government in transforming the region.
Mr Osibanjo said the Buhari-led administration is making plans to ensure that the oil producing communities in Nigeria enjoys the benefit of a good life and better environment.
He said government will ensure that it will tackle the power situation in Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas of the state.
The meeting gave room for representatives of various interest groups to vent their demands and opinion for how things are run in the region.
The people believe that with constant dialogue and interaction with government, more progress will be achieved in the oil producing communities of Nigeria.
