A former chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and his secretary Usman Garko, have withdrawn a case against the current party chairman, Umar Doguwa.

A Kano High Court presided over by Justice Sanusi Ma’aji had earlier set April 26, 2022 for hearing of the Originating Summons against the Umar Doguwa-led Kano executives.

The duo had filed a suit seeking a restraining order against the NNPP executives, following dissolution of the state exco he once led.

Messrs Habib and Garko sought, among other reliefs, a declaration that the election of Mr Doguwa-led exco is illegal, unlawful, null, void and of no effect whatsoever and a declaration that he was the authentic chairman of the party.

But in a sudden change of decision, Messrs Habib and Garko filed a notice, dated April 26, 2022, for discontinuance of the case against NNPP, Mr Doguwa (and other members of the Kano State Executive Committee) and INEC.

In the notice obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN on Wednesday, the plaintiffs relied on Order 23 Rule 1 of the Kano State High Court Rules 2014.

Mr Habib, however, did not state his reasons for withdrawing the case.
