The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dissolved the state, local and ward Executive Committees of the Kano State chapter of the party with immediate effect.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the dissolution is coming on the heels of a court order restraining the party from dissolving the excos believed to be loyal to former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued an order, restraining the NWC of the party from going on with the dissolution, pending the determination of a suit filed before Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo of the court.

But the PDP, in a statement signed on Tuesday by its National Organizing Secretary, Umar M. Bature, said the action was taken “after careful deliberations and extensive consultations, following “recent developments” in the state chapter of the party.

According to Mr Bature, the dissolution is pursuant to Sections 29(2)(b) and 31(2)(e ) of the party.

The PDP, therefore, approved the appointment of the Kano State Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the party in the state for a period of 90 days, “pursuant to Section 24(2) of our Party’s Constitution as amended in 2017”.

The membership of the Kano State Caretaker are as follows:

  1. Alhaji Ibrahim Atta — Chairman

  4. Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Jungau — Member
