PDP sets new date for outstanding zonal congresses

National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved April 12 for the South South Zonal Congress of the party, which was earlier postponed.

According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, on Sunday, he said the NWC also approved the postponement of the South-West and North-Central zonal congresses from the earlier scheduled March 22 to April 12.

He said that the zonal congresses would hold simultaneously across the South-South, South-West, and North-Central zones.

The PDP spokesman said that executive officers and national ex-officio members for the respective zonal chapters would be elected at the congresses, in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

He urged all aspirants, PDP leaders, stakeholders, and members in the respective zones, INEC, security agencies and the media to note the dates for the zonal congresses and be guided accordingly.

“The Zonal Congresses will hold simultaneously in Port Harcourt, Rivers State [South South Zone], Ibadan, Oyo State [South West Zone] and Jos, Plateau State [North Central Zone]to elect the Executive Officers and National Ex-Officio Members for the respective Zonal Chapters in line with the Constitution and Guidelines of our great Party.

“The NWC charges all aspirants, leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members of our Party in the respective Zones, the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, security agencies, and the media to note the scheduled date of Saturday, April 12, 2025, for the Zonal Congresses for the South South, South West, and North Central Zones of our Party and be guided accordingly,” the statement said.
