The Supreme Court on Wednesday evening upheld the elections of Governors Udom Emmanuel and Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Akwa Ibom and Abia States respectively.
The governors won elections on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While Governor Udom’s victory was challenged by ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Umana Umana, Governor Ikpeazu’s election was challenged by Dr Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
In a marathon ruling, the court reversed the decision of the Courts of Appeal, which nullified both governors’ elections.
The Supreme Court said full details of the ruling would be provided on a February 15.
