A philanthropist and businessman, Fejiro Oliver-Samson, has renovated and remodeled a nursery and primary school for the indigent and special-needs children, Christ City Mission School, in Abuja.

The renovation included furnishing a computer room, installing a water tank, outdoor landscaping, setting up a playground with playing equipment, classroom desks, chairs, books, and other teaching resources.

Speaking at the event on Sunday which coincided with his birthday, Mr Samson said the gesture was aimed at uplifting the educational standards for underprivileged and special-needs children within the community.

Mr Samson, who is also the CEO of Excella B Group, highlighted the transformative power of education, saying, “the only way for a child to succeed is through education, and it starts with a conducive environment”.

Mr Samson, who is also the co-founder of the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking, NACAT, said his mission was to provide children in disadvantaged areas with the same quality of educational infrastructure as his own children studying abroad.

According to him, the renovation project is designed to support education in underserved areas, especially the installation of modern classroom furniture, provision of educational materials, playground facilities, and other essential amenities.

“The remodeled school now offers an enhanced environment conducive to learning, providing children with the infrastructure needed to overcome socioeconomic challenges,” Mr Samson added.

He, therefore, called on well-meaning Nigerians to consider taking up similar projects, urging them to look within the slums, pick up a dilapidated school that has been abandoned and transform it into a healthy learning environment.

Also speaking, founder of the school, Caro Shalom, expressed her gratitude to Mr Samson, emphasizing that his donations are an investment not just in the school but in the futures of the children.

“Every money he has generously donated is an investment in the lives we are serving here,” she stated.

According to Mrs Shalom, the school is meant for out-of-school children, children from very poor homes, children that were recovered from traffickers, and the needy.

Mrs Shalom added that the school is an unconventional establishment that doesn’t charge fees.

She also said pupils in the school cut across all religions and tribes, in a bid to help humanity.

Highlights of the events also include the donation of N500,000 for the computer lab as well as for the provision of books and other school items by Iteveh Nurudeen an Environmental Rights and Social Activist a friend of Mr Samson.
