The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala-Usman has toured around the ports in Lagos State to assess the level of compliance with the Federal Government’s exemption directive on their operations within the period of Coronavirus lockdown in the country.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, in his last week broadcast address, had exempted the ports from observing the lockdown measure imposed on the three major states worse his by the Coronavirus pandemic.
On Friday, Ms Bala-Usman led the management team of the NPA on a tour of the ports and had an audience with all the terminal operators.
During the tour, the NPA management entertained complaints and proffered on the spot solutions where applicable.
It was observed that operations were going on in all the terminals visited and terminal operators promised to keep the momentum.
The operators, however, appealed to the managing director to speak to the security operatives to allow their workers with valid Identity Card to come to work unhindered.
