Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa amidst speculations that the former leader is planning to join the ruling APC and vie for president in 2023.
Although Mr Jonathan was at the State House to update Mr Buhari on the political situation in Mali, feelers believe the visit might not be unconnected with the ex-president’s political decision.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that some top APC leaders have been trying to persuade Mr Jonathan to join the ruling party and complete his term.
Mr Jonathan lost his second term election to Mr Buhari in 2015 and conceded victory to the president.
Since losing election, Mr Jonathan has reduced his involvement in partisan affairs of his party, and was conspicuously absent at the national convention of the PDP in October last year.
