Four persons have reportedly killed following a clash within members of suspected Berom cult group Wednesday night in Kwata Zawang community of Jos South Local Government Area of the State.
Our correspondent gathered that as at Thursday morning, the clash led to an unlawful blockage of road that leads to Vom.
“Consequently, some irate youths on Thursday morning also mounted roadblocks in protest of the said attack, a local source has said.
Via a text message, the source said: “This is to notify you that Vom road has been blocked by the Berom militants.
“One of our staff: Malam Jibrin, a Livestock Attendant at National Veterinary Research Institute, NVRI, Vom, narrowly escaped with his vehicle damaged. Help us inform relevant authorities please.”
However, the Plateau State Police Command, in a statement, Thursday afternoon, confirmed the incident, saying: “On the 02/01/2019 at about 1930hrs, we received a distress call to the effect that unknown cult group armed with cutlasses, axe and guns attacked themselves near a Night Club at Kwata Zawan in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
“As a result of the attack, four (4) persons lost their lives. The corpses of the victim have been deposited at the Plateau Specialist Hospital Mortuary for Autopsy,” the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Tyopev Terna, added.
According to him, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Austin Agbonlahor, has directed the immediate commencement of an investigation into the crime.
