Poetry Enclave celebrates Omatseye’s 30 years in journalism, writing

Ibadan-based Poetry Enclave (POEN), organised by performer and theatre activist, Mr. Anthony Ebika, will tomorrow, Thursday, November 30, 2017, hold a Sam Omatseye Poetry Festival (SOMAFEST) in honour of the celebrated journalist, poet and novelist, Omatseye. The event is also in celebration of the award-wining journalist’s 30th year in journalism practice. Venue is Alliance Francaise, Iyaganku, Ibadan. Time is 10.am prompt.

Omatseye is the Editorial Board chair and writes ‘In Touch,’ a weekly column in The Nation newspaper. Since he turned 50, Omatseye has partly turned his attention to writing fiction. Omatseye’s poetry collections include Mandela’s Bones and Other Poems, Dear Baby Ramatu, Lion Wind And Other Poems, and Scented Offal, while his novels are Crocodile Girl and My Name Is Okoro. His only play in honour of Wole Soyinka’s 80th birthday is The Siege.
