Kano State Police Command has arrested one Muhammad Zulfarau-Alfa, a suspected serial rapist who is popularly known as ‘Mai-skirt’.
Mr Zulfarau-Alfa, a 32-year-old resident of Dangora Village in Kiru Local Government Area of the state, was said to have serially raped 40 women in the town within one year.
Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, the state’s police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, said the suspect was handed over to the police by Good Samaritans who caught him while trying to flee from a house he allegedly sneaked into at night.
According to Mr Haruna, the suspect was trying to enter into a girls’ room when their mother, upon seeing him, screamed for help.
“We have him now in our custody and we are parading him soon. He was handed over to our men after Good Samaritan apprehended him as he fled one house in the Dangora town.
“The suspect has confessed to his offences and will be charged to court. He must face the wrath of the law,” said Mr Haruna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP.
