The Cross River Police Command said it arrested the leader of the Movement for The Actualization for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, in Odukpani Local Government of the state.
The command said the leader was intercepted alongside 46 other members of the group.
The Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, said the command got intelligence report that following their meeting in Ikom Local Government Area of the state, they had wanted to proceed to Calabar.
Acting on intelligence report, Mr Inuwa said, the command stopped the group before reaching the metropolis to prevent the breach of peace.
“The group was brought to the State Command Headquarters for further interrogation and they will be released if their intentions are lawful as no weapon was found on them,” he added.
