Police commended over role in release of Kuriga school children

Initiative for Leadership Development and Change, ILDC, has commended the Nigeria Police Force over its role in the release of the abducted 287 Kuriga school children in Kaduna state.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of ILDC, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday.

The kidnapped 287 Kuriga Primary and Secondary school pupils and students were released by terrorists on Sunday.

The school children, aged five to 18 were abducted on March 7 from their schools in Kuriga.

Mr Nnam, who expressed profound joy over the release of the children, ascribed it to the gallantry of the Nigeria Police Force ably led by, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police.

He said media reports indicating that the police played a major role in information gathering and dissemination which led to the release of the children was a welcomed development.

Mr Nnam said the release of the children was indicative of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration to provide effective security for every Nigeria.

The ILDC boss condemned the rampant kidnap of innocent Nigerians, especially children.

He expressed confidence in the police under Egbetekun to continue to partner with other security agencies to degrade terrorism.

“This is why we are seeing unconditional release of abductees like the Kuriga primary and secondary school children.

“As people of good conscience and patriots, we join all Nigerians to celebrate the release of the 287 children on Sunday.

“These children did not deserve to be kidnapped, whatsoever the provocation, because they are the very future of our beloved nation,’’ he said.

The ILDC chief called on Nigerian security operatives to work as a team by deploying more of preventive security techniques in neutralising the intents of terrorists.

According to him, intelligence gathering network is paramount in fighting insecurity.
